The 7 Days Uganda Wildlife Safari is one of the magical wilderness encounters that takes you to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track white Rhinos, Murchison Falls National Park for wild game viewing including Big four, the Nile launch cruise with possible sights of Nile crocodiles and Hippos not forgetting Shoebill stork, the Kibiro salt gardens an ancient historical site that dates back to the pre-colonial Africa, Bigodi wetland walk – the most successful eco-community tourism initiative in Uganda, the remarkable Kazinga Channel boat cruise and viewing the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha and the Island hopping experience exploring the main Islands out of the 29 Islands that mark Lake Bunyonyi.

Day by Day itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route

The driver-guide will pick you from your hotel at 7 am and transfer you to Murchison Falls National Park 247km about 4 hours’ drive. On your way, you will pay a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – where white rhinos are thriving in a natural environment. Branch off at Nakitooma for 7km further reaching the Headquarters for Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. You track white Rhinos thriving in a natural savannah thicket marked with tall grass. The gigantic species are among the big five Land animals and would definitely make your encounter rewarding. After trekking Rhinos in Ziwa, settle for lunch and then continue on the drive to Murchison Falls NP arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and overnight

Day 2:   Morning, afternoon Nile boat cruise & hike to the top of the falls

Connect to the park after breakfast to start the game drive at 7am in the northern section where the animals are known to thrive with possibilities of meeting Rothschild giraffes, Elephants, Buffaloes, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Kobs, lions, leopards, and water bucks among others. The range of tracks has been specially designed to allow you explore the park in detail. Retreat from the 3 hour activity and relax at the lodge up to lunch time after which you gather at Paraa Jetty for a thrilling boat cruise at 2 pm. The boat cruise lasts 3 hours and offers you possibilities of encountering Nile crocodiles and Hippos. Birds like the most sought after Shoebill Stork might also be seen on the river banks enjoying the cool waters of the Nile River. Upon reaching the bottom of the falls, you embark on the hike to the top of the falls following the Nile River as it squeezes itself to pass through a less than 7m gorge before falling 43m below to what has been termed as the devil’s Cauldron forming a plume of spray marked by a thunderous roar and trademark rainbow. You link up with the guide and the vehicle at the top of the falls and transfer to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer from Murchison Falls National Park to Hoima & visit Kibiro Salt Gardens en route

After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Hoima. You make a stop en route to visit the Kibiro Salt Gardens which dates back to over 900 years ago supporting the generations and generations of the area’s inhabitants. The people depend on this salt as they exchange it with the neighboring community for food and get income by selling it. The salt is extracted traditionally and exclusively by the local expert women. The footpath connecting to the site presents a challenging hiking encounter. Retreat from the activity and embark on the transfer to Hoima arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park & Do Bigodi wetland walk en route

After an early breakfast, you embark on the transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park driving through the impressive rural landscapes of Kyenjojo and Kagadi before approaching Fort Portal town about 5 hours for early lunch and then proceed for Bigodi wetland walk on the boundary of Kibale National Park. The Bigodi wetland is a rich haven presenting ideal ecotourism encounters in Uganda. In fact, it is the leading successful ecotourism initiative in Uganda and the wetland features a count of 138 species which include Great Blue Turaco, gonoleks among others. The swamp-dwelling sitatunga antelope might also be encountered. Retreat from the activity and embark on the transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the Rwimi road to Kasese. Arrive at the lodge in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 5: Do morning game drive and afternoon Kazinga Channel boat cruise  

After breakfast, embark on the game drive encounter at 7 am stretching to the Kasenyi area where a range of wild game might be encountered including the elephants, waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Buffaloes, Lions, Spotted Hyenas, leopards, Bushbucks among other species. The view of the moist open savannah grassland is also impressive. Return from 3 – 4 hour activity and connect to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, you connect to Mweya Jetty for an afternoon boat cruise commencing at 2 pm. The boat encounter on what has been termed the Paradise of Hippos features impressive sights of Hippos and Nile crocodiles, birds like the African skimmer, Yellow-billed stork, and Kingfishers.  The wild game can also be encountered on the channel side. Retreat from the 2-hour activity and do a game drive along the channel track as you connect back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and do a game drive in the Ishasha sector in search of tree climbing lions.

After breakfast, embark on the transfer to Lake Bunyonyi 289km about a 7- 8 hours’ drive. You undertake a game drive in the Ishasha sector in the south of Queen Elizabeth National Park in search of tree climbing lions and other wild games. The Ishasha is one of the only two places in the world where tree climbing lions can be encountered. They tend to lie in fig tree branches in the day. Continue on the drive passing through the fascinating Kigezi Highlands to arrive at Lake Bunyonyi in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and overnight

Day 7: Do early morning boat cruise & Island walk & transfer to Entebbe. Embark on the early morning lake tour by taking a boat cruise exploring the impressive waters of Lake Bunyonyi noted as the second deepest in Africa. You also take a walk on one of the main Islands to explore the beauty of the lake of a thousand Islands in detail. Retreat from 2-hour activity and embark on the transfer to Kampala 437km about 7 hours’ drive driving through impressive countryside landscapes of south western Uganda making a traditional lunch stop at Igongo Cultural Center for typical African buffet and another stop at Uganda Equator crossing Kayabwe for amazing photo shoots where one leg would be in the southern hemisphere and the other in the northern hemisphere. Arrive in Kampala in the afternoon to mark the end of the tour.

    Best time to visit Uganda

    Uganda is open all-year-long, the best wildlife viewing months in Uganda are during the Dry season from late June to October.

    The most commonly asked Ugandan questions! The solution is straightforward! You are welcome to visit Uganda at any time of the year! It’s a hot and humid atmosphere here.

    The cost of a safari, which is normally higher during peak season, maybe the difference. We offer discounts in May and April, and if you are traveling in groups, we offer a $150 discount on a Uganda safari gorilla permit.

    June to October –Dry Season. Wildlife is easier to spot.

    November to May –Wet Season

    The scenery is beautiful and green Rates drop because it’s the low season.
